One-to-One Yoga

Why Have a One-to-One Yoga Session?

Some students benefit from one-to-one yoga teaching due to specific medical needs, personal goals, convenient session times or simply for a more individual experience.

Small Group Sessions

Small Group Sessions

I also offer sessions for groups of 2 - 6 students.

For example, I work with couples who want a private session to practice yoga together but need more flexibility when coordinating busy weekly schedules.

I work with small groups of people, sometimes in the workplace or even friends looking for a short holiday course.

These sessions can be arranged for a regular time slot or as and when it suits you.

When, Where and How Much?

Prices for one-to-one and private group classes vary depending on whether we hire a venue, the time of year and day of the week. Please contact me to arrange a venue and discuss you requirements.

I also offer private one-to-one and two-to-two yoga sessions at Bowood Hotel and Spa, near Calne, Wiltshire. These are arranged by the Bowood Spa, so please contact reception directly for more information and bookings.

What Happens in a One-to-One / Small Group Yoga Session?

What Happens in a One-to-OneEach session is tailored to suit the abilities, interests and needs of the individuals taking part. During the session participants are engaged in low impact physical work.

The combination of physical work and breathing techniques effectively reduces tension in the body and improves core strength and flexibility.

A typical session begins with breath awareness, followed by a warm up. A series of postures, individually chosen for those taking part, is introduced and practiced.

The session ends with led relaxation. Depending on the interests of students, essential oils or incense can be introduced during the session, individually or alongside music. Pranayama (advanced breathing techniques) and meditation can also be included.

Students are encouraged to listen to their body and to work according to what their bodies need - when we open communication within the body we allow ourselves to re-awaken these skills in other areas of our lives.

When the breath wanders the mind also is unsteady. When the breath is calmed the mind too will be still, and the yogi achieves long life. Therefore, one should learn to control the breath.

The most important pieces of equipment you need for doing yoga are your body and your mind.

Rodney Yee

Yoga, an ancient but perfect science, deals with the evolution of humanity. This evolution includes all aspects of one's being, from bodily health to self-realisation. Yoga means union - the union of body with consciousness and consciousness with the soul. Yoga cultivates the ways of maintaiing a balanced attitude in day to day like and endows skill in the performance of one's actions.

Yoga is possible for anybody who really wants it. Yoga is universal... But don't approach yoga with a business mind looking for worldly gain.

Sri Krishna Pattabhi Jois

Vogue and Self are putting out the message of yoginis as buff and perfect. If you start doing yoga for those reasons, fine. Most people get beyong that and see that it's much, much more.
